Tolstoy wrote that in a contest of cunning, the peasant consistently defeats the intellectual, and he was right. Not because the peasant is smarter but because he doesn't have the self-doubt and the second thoughts and all the other mind tricks that make the intellectual out-think himself.

And that's why Donks will continue to call your perfect bluff when they hold bottom pair against a board with straights and flushes all over it, and also why you will continue to lay down pocket Queens pre-flop only to find the gimp had pushed with Ace, 4 off.
Just remember, in the long run you WILL make money off peasants.
Ah... 2009... a new year, I can wipe the slate clean. For the record, I finished 2008 £4K up, despite a bad run in December. Let's see what 2009 holds.
Of course we will try and make FHP even better, with tournament leagues at the Townhouse, Freezeouts at Planet Pool, and online leagues at Uncover Poker.
I'll also be playing regular cash games at the Pomme (and the odd tournament) and as much as possible at the Vic and further overseas. I fancy Turks and Caicos or Aruba for some summer poker... we shall see.
PS you only get Tolstoy poker analogies at FHP... we're frackin clever, see.
